Ryan Vaughn Accepts Position as Chief of Staff to Mayor Ballard, Resigns from City-County Council

Caucus to fill City-County Council Vacancy Set for May 31st

 

INDIANAPOLIS – On Wednesday, Ryan Vaughn announced his resignation from the City-County Council shortly after accepting an appointment to serve as Mayor Greg Ballard’s Chief of Staff.

 

Vaughn stated, “Serving this community has been a fundamental part of my life for nearly my entire professional career.  Whether it was my time as Deputy Prosecutor or my time as a Councillor, I have always valued the opportunity to make a difference in the community in which we live.  It’s in this spirit that I have elected to pursue this opportunity to serve as Mayor Ballard’s Chief of Staff.”

 

Chairman Kyle Walker stated, “Mayor Ballard has made a great choice in appointing Ryan Vaughn to serve as his Chief of Staff.  Ryan has a deep understanding of our city and is well-respected by Republicans and Democrats alike.  He leaves very large shoes to fill on the City-County Council.”

 

Pursuant to IC 3-13-11-3, Chairman Walker will call a caucus of the District 3 Precinct Committeemen to appoint a pro tempore successor to complete Vaughn’s term on the City-County Council.  There are 31 precincts in the district.  Pursuant to IC 3-13-11-5, Precinct Committeemen must have been elected, or appointed no later than thirty (30) days before the caucus.  As such, there will be 29 Precinct Committeemen eligible to vote.  The caucus will be held at 7pm on Thursday, May 31st, at the Knights of Columbus located at 2100 E. 71st Street.

 

Individuals who are interested in becoming a candidate for this caucus must be registered voters in City-County Council District 3 (Click here for district map or here for interactive map) and pursuant to IC 3-13-11-7, candidates must file a declaration of candidacy (click here) with Chairman Walker at Marion County Republican Headquarters at 47 S. Pennsylvania Street, Suite 300, no later than 7pm on Monday, May 28th.

Clerk and Judge Training Schedule

City County Building
Public Assembly Room, 2nd Floor
200 E. Washington St.

Parking is available in the City-County Building parking garage for poll workers attending Clerk/Judge training. The entrance to the garage is on Alabama Street.   You must bring your assignment letter with you to park in the building garage.  Please be prepared to go through security.

Clerk and Judge training classes will last approximately 1.5 hours and will begin at 9:15 a.m., 11:15 a.m., 1:45 p.m., and 3:45 p.m. on the following dates:

Saturday, April 28
Sunday, April 29
Saturday, May 5
Sunday, May 6

 

 


Mayor Ballard’s State of the City Address

Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard will give his fifth annual State of the City Address on Tuesday, April 17th at DeveloperTown.

The event is free and open to the public.

Spring Dinner with Sen. Richard Lugar

The Marion County Republican Central Committee is holding its Spring Dinner on April 12th from 6:00pm – 9:00pm.  The reception will be held at the Crowne Plaza at Historic Union Station located at 123 West Louisiana Street.

If you would like to attend the dinner, tickets are $100 per person and $50 per person for Young Republicans.
